History

Harikishore Singh Government Polytechnic, Sheohar is one of the premier technical institutions in the state of Bihar, dedicated to imparting quality technical education and fostering professional excellence among students. The institute was established in the year 2015 with the objective of producing skilled and competent diploma engineers. Since its inception, it has been striving to create a conducive learning environment that promotes academic achievement, innovation, and holistic development.

The institute is approved by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, and is affiliated with the State Board of Technical Education (SBTE), Bihar, Patna. At the time of establishment, the institute offered diploma programmes in four core engineering branches, namely Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Electronics Engineering, each with an intake capacity of 60 students.

In response to the growing demand for technical education and industry requirements, the institute expanded its academic offerings by introducing the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) branch in 2023, with an intake capacity of 60 students. Additionally, the intake capacity of the Civil Engineering branch was increased to 120 students, reflecting the institute’s continuous growth and commitment to providing greater opportunities for aspiring engineers.
