Internal Complaints Committee

The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) is constituted in the institution to provide a safe, respectful and dignified environment for all women employees and students. The Committee works to prevent and address complaints relating to sexual harassment at the workplace in accordance with applicable law and institutional regulations.

Objectives

  • To prevent and prohibit sexual harassment within the institution.
  • To provide a safe and supportive environment for women students and employees.
  • To provide an accessible and confidential mechanism for submitting complaints.
  • To ensure that complaints are handled fairly, sensitively and within the prescribed procedure.
  • To create awareness among students and employees about prevention of sexual harassment.

Major Functions

  1. Receive Complaints – Receive written complaints of sexual harassment from aggrieved women in accordance with the applicable procedure.
  2. Conduct Enquiry – Examine complaints and conduct enquiries following the prescribed legal procedure and principles of natural justice.
  3. Maintain Confidentiality – Protect the confidentiality of the complainant, respondent, witnesses and proceedings as required by law.
  4. Awareness Programmes – Organise workshops, seminars and sensitisation programmes on prevention of sexual harassment.
  5. Preventive Measures – Recommend appropriate measures to promote a safe and harassment-free campus.
  6. Support and Guidance – Provide information to complainants regarding the available institutional and legal mechanisms.
  7. Recommendations – Submit findings and recommendations to the competent authority for appropriate action.
  8. Record Keeping – Maintain records and prepare reports as required under applicable regulations.
  9. Monitoring – Review the implementation of preventive measures and recommend improvements where necessary.

Legal Framework

The Internal Complaints Committee functions primarily under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, along with the rules and applicable institutional/AICTE requirements.

Complaint Procedure

A woman student or employee who has a grievance relating to sexual harassment may submit a complaint to the Internal Complaints Committee through the prescribed institutional mechanism. The Committee will deal with the complaint in accordance with the applicable provisions of law while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.

Important: The identity and details of the complainant, respondent and witnesses, as well as the contents of the complaint and enquiry proceedings, should not be disclosed except as permitted or required by law.
